C Ansell & Sons Ltd. working in conjunction with Brewer Jewel architects of Dorking were commissioned to demolish an existing Victorian vestry and build a new vestry to incorporate disabled toilets and access facilities.
Being grade 1 listed and mentioned in the doomsday book all work was closely monitored and an archaeologist was on site.
The knap flint work was to be as close to the original church as possible and all stonework. had to be saved, refurbished and re-used.
The work was acknowledged and featured in the “National Federation of Builders” newsletter because of the traditional use of knap flint and lime mortar.
